Enjoy Wireless Connectivity to the Internet With 3G Modem

modem, a term derived form Modulator-Demodulator used to stand for a device that allowed a computer or terminal to transmit data over a standard dial-up telephone. This description of a modem is inadequate and was suitable only until the late 1990s. Since the advent of high-speed cable and DSL connections, modem now refers to devices that offer low-speed dial-up or high-speed broadband. Taking technology one step ahead, the wireless 3G modem provides global wireless access to the internet and e-mail.

usb wireless 3G modem creates connection of computers and private networks with the internet as the primary or back-up route. It is especially suitable for desktop users seeking permanent wireless internet connection and users in rural areas where no other means of broadband internet are available. It is also equally suitable for users on the move who want to take their connection with them all the time.

As mentioned above, the wireless 3G modem provides global wireless access to the internet and e-mail on HSDPA (High speed Downlink Packet Access) capable UMTS networks. With a speed of up to 1.8Mbps down and 384kbps up, it enables users to enjoy access to wireless connectivity similar to DSL or cable modems. In addition to supporting high-end HSDPA technology, the wireless 3G modem is also compatible with UMTS, EDGE and GPRS networks.

This capability of the wireless 3G modem makes it an ideal device for operators planning to upgrade their networks to HSDPA as it supports currently deployed wireless broadband technologies (WCDMA 2100MHz, EDGE Class 10 Quad band). By virtue of this technology, you can get access to the internet using your 3G mobile phone as a modem by simply connecting your handset to your PC with a usb cable. What more, while you are browsing the net, you can still use your 3G mobile to make and receive phone calls or send and receive text messages.

Secrets that Golf Ball Manufacturers Don't Want You to Know

You have probably seen and heard advertisements from several different manufacturers claiming that their ball is the best. Hey, they can't all be the best...or can they? Since there are rules that limit a ball's initial velocity, it stands to reason that all the major golf ball makers are already pushing those limits. If they wanted to, they could probably make a ball that goes much further, but it would be illegal. Some pros are under contract to play the ball brand of their various sponsors, but they probably would do just as well playing a different brand, so it is not likely that these balls can be all that different.

That means if the average golfer wants more distance, any of the major brands will be OK. Some balls claim to have "high spin". Sounds cool, but if that is true, you can expect to increase your slice or hook, which negates the value of being able to stop the ball on the green more easily. Trying to spin the ball on "public" greens may be futile, because those greens are usually not as soft as the greens on plush private courses, so the extra spin might not be of any benefit to the average golfer anyway. If you really really like spin, use a ball with a cut or scrape on it (just kidding). If you like more distance, line up the seam of the ball vertically along the target line (not kidding, this supposedly also promotes a better roll for putting).

Some people claim they can feel a difference in the "softness" of the ball when they hit it. Don't be fooled by this. Any ball will feel softer if you hit it on the sweet spot of the club, and the same ball will feel hard if you fail to strike the ball on the sweet spot. Some people say they can tell by the sound; gimme a break, does it go "doink" or "squish"? If you think any of these balls are soft, allow me to bounce one of them off your head, and then you can tell me how soft it feels. They used to say hard swingers were supposed to use harder higher compression balls, yet the lower compression Lady Precept has changed this way of thinking, and now all the major brands are making balls with specs similar to the Lady Precept.

So the bottom line is this: Unless you are a low handicap golfer, it probably makes little difference which ball is better for you. The marketing hype is just playing on your mind. For the average golfer, brand guchi-fufu will probably get no better scores than brand A or B or X. However, the mind is a very powerful thing, so if you feel more confident by playing an expensive ball, then go for it, a positive attitude will probably help you.

So without further ado, here is my "meticulous scientific" and most fiscally responsible method of choosing a golf ball. Use whatever the ball retriever can dredge up from the nearest ponds, and put the money saved to better use, like maybe for some extra beers at the 19th hole, or better yet, use it for some of the golf swing improvement DVDs mentioned in our web site!

November NFL Thoughts

Picked up pieces from the sports betting weekend. A pro handicapper told me about an old betting angle started back in the 1970s which relates to the mid-point of the nfl season. According to him, people bet on any team that starts the season 2-6 or worse for the rest of the year, and against any team that starts 6-2 or better. This is not a formula for hitting 80% winners the rest of the way, but for sports betting grinders. I don't do that, but I can see reasoning behind the angle. You're going against public perception which means, in theory, youre getting a few extra points each week, as teams that that 2-6 are likely to be big dogs the rest of the way, while currently strong teams like the Colts and Broncos will be getting respect from oddsmakers. Just thought I'd pass that wagering angle along.

The Terrell Owens saga is ridiculous. A pampered, problem-child superstar continues to backstab teammates and talk about ME, ME, ME, so the coach throws him off the team. A pat on the back for Andy Reid for making that decision. Football is not about ME, it's about teamwork, working hard and working together. Owens was suspended for sunday night's 17-10 loss at Washington, and will remain suspended for three more games without pay. After that, the Eagles plan to deactivate him for the rest of the season. Does anyone recall the TV speech Owens gave early in preseason, trying to explain his actions? It was embarrassing. Let's hope Owens and his agent aren't dumb enough to go on TV again to try and plead his case.

Athletes wear out their welcome all the time in sports, and most move on to another team for a few years where they often wear out their welcome again. Lost in the shuffle of the Owens' saga is a similar thing that happened in the nfl four years ago. Early in the 2001 season, Patriots All-Pro WR Terry Glenn was being a problem child, missing practices and complaining about a variety of topics. Coach Bill Belichick laid down the law and suspended Glenn. At the time it was a surprise, as New England was short on offensive speed. However, the team showed they were better without Glenn, recovering from an 0-2 start and the sideshow antics by winning the super Bowl, all without Glenn.

In Cleveland, first-year coach Romeo Crennel has the Browns playing hard. A defensive expert, the Cleveland defense is allowing 17 ppg after allowing 24 per game last season. The offense is still short on talent and plays a conservative, grind-it-out style. Notice that the Browns are 7-1 under the total.

The 3-5 Raiders have had a tough schedule and some bitter defeats, losing at home to KC by 6 when a late drive stalled, and at Philly by 3. Sunday's shocking 27-23 loss at Kansas City on the final play was easily the hardest to take. "This is about as bitter a defeat as you could have," said Oakland quarterback Kerry Collins afterward. It's the type of loss that could break the back of a team. Watch for any finger-pointing or complaining by Oakland players over the next few weeks, especially Randy Moss, who hasn't spoken to the press since early September, which is probably a blessing.
